Livesteraming-Startup Periscope was bought by Twitter - Official
Periscope tweeted out the news at little after 1PM EST.
You may have heard some news: It involves a blue bird. #YouCanGuessTheRest #WeJoinedTheFlockInJanuary #AreWeUsingThisRight #IsThisThingOn
Twitter re-tweeted the announcement from official account. Meanwhile, the Twitter’s VP of Product, Kevin Weil offered the Periscope team his greetings.Excited to officially welcome Periscope to the Twitter team. Can't wait for everyone to see what they've built!
Periscope had not yet officially launched before the purchase – there is not even an app developed for the public to try. It’s interesting timing for the announcement, which has given the recent growth of livestreaming app Meerkat App. Periscope is supposed to provide similar functionality, yet being part of Twitter offers advantages.
A popular gadget platform reports Periscope streams won’t self-destruct like Meerkat, and it allows for both private and public broadcasts.
