Google's Project Ara is a modular smartphone, which can build to your own design as needed
Google introduces new kind of modular smartphone, that can update piece by piece. The concept is a simple, you buy a model Ara phone and all the model may be pulled off and swapped as you need. The idea is started by Dave as Phone Blocks. when he braked is camera and try to fixed it. Dave comes with a Phone Blocks that can easier to repair and easy to upgrade. ATAP & Google teams up to bring the concept alive by building a "Project Ara" Future Smartphone.

Many company started implementing concept of "Phone Blocks" by implementing to other devices as PC, Tables, TV, and more. In MWC (2015) Yezz showcasing a Module for Project Ara. If we have core of Ara framework then it can be upgrade or add the hardware modules for RAM, Screen, Storage, Batteries,USB drives, Cameras, and more. Google calls this project as "Spiral 2" comes with 3G networks. 4G LTE is available in coming version in "Spiral 3".

TheVerge: Google says it’s already made a few changes since the initial prototype. That includes moving the electro-permanent magnets from the modules to the metal endoskeleton frame. It also changed its plan to 3D print the covers of modules, which are now being done with injection-molded polycarbonate plastic. That was going to be a key factor of customizing the module.
