A green way to boost the performance of Li-ION (Lithium ion) batteries with material from silk.
"Hierarchical Porous Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Nanosheets Derived from Silk for Ultrahigh-Capacity Battery Anodes and Supercapacitors"
According to chinese developers Lithium Ion batteries with additive material of silk helps in getting into a step forward towards green battery evolution.
In commercial ways carbon is key component of Lithium Ion energy stoorage devices in batteries and supercapacitors, whereas the graphite fills have minimum role in them. Researchers managed to process natural silk create carbon-based nanosheets that could potentially be used in energy storage devices.
Material stores 5 times more lithium than graphite can, which also has a capacity to improve the battery performance. As a result 10,000 cycles of working with only 9 % loss in its stability. Here you can also look into Research Project
