Fire Chat doesn’t require an internet unlike WhatsApp and other messaging apps
No cell service or even Wi-Fi networks are needed to connect users. FireChat works in any situation, whether you are connected to the Internet or not.
Benoliel says, ”It forms a peer-to-peer mesh network. The phones daisy-chain to each other.”
How Fire Chat works?
FireChat build its own network called "Open Garden" and doesn’t need any towers. FireChat set-up a mash network where each phone act as node and relays data from phone to phone connected via the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. If more devices link together by FireChat, then network’s range expands.
"FireChat is designed for public communications"
You can chat with people around you, even if there is no Internet connection or mobile phone coverage. Fire Chat is not suitable for daily usage and private chat. You can search for people nearby and you can join in Chatrooms. Security and privacy are the issue in FireChat.
